Foot-Eye Coordination

Drill: Route Tracing with Feet

Target

Craft visuospatial precision, foot-eye coordination, and core-integrated movement through toe-to-trackpad contact.

Terrain

Sit on the ground. Place your laptop in front of you so you can easily reach the trackpad with your feet. Play a video of yourself performing a meaningful climb. Pause where the whole climb is most visible.

Train

  1. Look at the first hold, hold your gaze.

  2. Place your left big toe on the trackpad.

  3. Locate the cursor in your peripheral vision.

  4. Move your toe until the cursor hovers upon a point on the first hold.

  5. Trace the outline of the hold, holding gaze on the start point.

  6. Locate the next hold in your peripheral vision.

  7. Repeat sequence until you trace the entire route.

Try-Hard Modes

Overload Attention Inwards
Perform a body scan while tracing and notice sensations in different parts of the body.

Overload Attention Outwards:
While tracing, name objects in your peripheral vision, as well as sounds you hear.

Overload Crux Awareness
Answer the following questions:
a) Which part of the drill felt hardest for you?
b) How easy or hard was it to multitask your attention away from the drill?
c) How can you perform the drill with less effort?
